Our Philosophy
Simple, honest, real. We believe in the simplicity and wholesomeness of real foods and are committed to the health and happiness of our animals.
We hope you find the same value and joy in our offerings, from raw milk and table eggs to chicks and goats, as we do.
Our Story
Hello, I’m Erica and my husband Brian and I are The Farm at Thorne Gut.
In the fall of 2016, we left city life behind and returned to the countryside with the purchase of a heavily wooded and slightly worn horse farm in Southern Maryland. We brought our horses home from boarding and purchased our first chicks.
Fast forward to the present and we are home to five rescue horses, a licensed micro-dairy, producing raw milk, an ADGA registered breeder of Nigerian Dwarf Goats, a producer of pasture raised table eggs, as well as breeding fancy chickens.
It’s been a process and quite the learning curve but we are relearning lost skills, reconnecting with nature, learning to live with and work with the land in a sustainable manner and creating something truly beautiful for future generations.
Our story is just beginning and we are glad you are here to be part of that.
Fun Facts:
The name of our farm was inspired by the body of water, Thorne Gut, that flows through the front of our property and loops around to the Potomac River at Thorne Gut Marsh and is a listed wetland area.
